GTX 780 For mining : NiceHash

This meme wave is really confusing.

The 3000 series is announced and so far it looks like a legit fantastic leap in performance.
That said people seem to either overly forgiving or completely ignoring the inflated prices.
the *70 has for the most part sat around $330~$350 and the *80 at $500 with few exceptions.
Then bitcoin mining ruined GPU prices and it looks like Nvidia wants to keep charging closer to the bitcoin days prices.
Yes now you have 2080ti performance for half the price which is great but nots not the only metric we should judge it by.
The GTX 970 matched the GTX 780 ti but it did it for $329. Hell I could even see a 3070 going for $400 but $500?
Then theres the sad part there is no Nvidia beating AMD memes because they've been out of the game so long its just Nvidia beating Nvidia lol.

Crypto Gui Miner - official thread and support

This is the official thread for support and development of CryptoGuiMiner! Please any suggest, criticize and praise.
I see that there are a lot of questions and different answers on forums on the subject of mining cryptocurrencies. So now… which cryptocurrency should you be mining and how? For beginners and people with no knowledge of cryptocurrencies, the biggest issue are the very basics like adjusting the settings which can be complicated and hard to figure out. If you want to start mining, it must be way more complicated than just a few clicks! Or is it? So you don’t have to bother, lose time or God forbid adjust something wrongly, there is an interesting piece of software that helps you and does everything automatically for you. I’m writing this because I myself am using this software and can confirm that it is definitely the best solution for everyone who is new in the world of cryptocurrency mining.
The program is called Crypto Gui Miner and it you can download it from https://cryptoguiminer.com/ (Crypto Gui Miner | Free Easy GPU Mining Software Application)
The main thing which makes this program so special and what sets it apart from the others is the simplicity and automatic set-up function. There is even a calculator on their website that will calculate which cryptocurrency is the most profitable to mine, depending on the graphics cards that you use.
When you run the program, it will automatically recognize the graphics cards that you are using and adjust the settings so that it mines the cryptocurrency that is the most profitable. You also have a nice and clear display of temperature and other useful data such as hashrates, estimated monthly earnings in US dollars or Bitcoin, monitoring for tracking results via mobile phone, etc. All you have to do is insert your wallet address so you can dafely save the currency you are mining directly into your wallet (and it is saved automatically). The best place for creating your wallet is the official website of the cryptocurrency that you wish to start mining. Of course, you always have control over what and when you will be mining.
You can also enter more than one wallet into the program, so the program will mine the currency that is the most profitable at that time. However, if you only wish to mine one cryptocurrency, then just click on the button “Force” and the chosen cryptocurrency will be mined regardless of the others.
In short, don’t focus on mining Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum or other currencies that are difficult to mine and you need hardware of 100+ thousands of EUR. Focus on currencies that can quickly be mined and monetized, converted into cash or for buying other cryptocurrrencies or if you plan to invest them in the long run. Just download the program, choose one or more currencies for mining, insert your wallet and that is it. No complicated settings, losing time, uncertainties etc.

May you prosper in GPU heaven.

She had lived a glorious and long life. Sadly today she passed. She gave me the best performance she could with her +150MHz core clock, she tried her best. My 560 Ti, my pride and joy is sadly no more with us.
Had an awesome 780 for a couple of days but sadly he was unable to stand on his two legs as he had been quite badly brutalized from his old owner by being used as a bitcoin mining GPU. He had to be given back to the owner as he had produced many artifacts.
May my 560 Ti prosper in GPU heaven. o7

Bitcoin Mining Hardware - Best Bang For Your Buck?

So I'm looking to get into mining bitcoins. Right now I'm just mining with my 780 Ti at 200MH/s but obviously that's not enough to make any bitcoins. Would any of you be so kind to direct me on to the correct path? I'd like to be able to mine enough so that the hardware would be able to pay for itself in due time, including the cost for electricity. Thanks!!

Hello Shibes, I'm a new Doge!

Hey all, after being into BitCoin for the last 18 months or so, I've decided to dump all that and join the fun that is Dogecoin! I'm just moving my bitcoins over to Doge, and hope to join in the tipping soon!
Just lurking in /dogecoin has been awesome, and it looks like this currency has a fantastic community that I'd like to be a part of!
I'm using a GTX 780 and a GTX 650 Ti Boost, and getting something like 750 khash/s combined. Very mining, much happy! Best part is, I can't get my old Radeon 6670 to mine at all.. ha ha ha.
Anyway, that's it, just wanted to say hi!
Happy Doge-ing!

Which of these options would you suggest for my upcoming GPU upgrade?

Okay so I am planning to upgrade my graphics card, but would like some suggestions on how exactly to do it. Here are my current system specs:
AMD FX-8350 @4.3GHz MSI Twin Frozr Radeon HD 7950 @1100MHz core and 1250MHz memory 1000W Coolmax PSU (yes, I know it’s a crap brand, but I’ve actually run 3 GPUs on it before, during my bitcoin mining days, so I know it can take a heavy load) MSI 890FXA-GD70 Motherboard 18 GB DDR3 RAM @1600MHz (yes, I know it’s a weird amount and I know it would be slightly faster if I took out the mismatched sets, but I would rather have the extra space than the slight speed boost)
Here are the options I’m considering: 1. A new Nvidia GTX 970 – Total cost: ~$350. Advantages: latest-generation card with “4GB” of memory (even 3.5GB is still more than 3GB), latest and greatest features. Disadvantages: Possibly not fully compatible with DX12 (not 100% sure on this, but it’s something I’ve heard) 2. A new Nvidia GTX 780 Ti – Total cost: ~$420. Advantages: most powerful single-card setup I can afford. Disadvantages: older card means fewer features, only 3GB memory compared to the 3.5/4 on the 970, probably not fully compatible with DX12 (again, only something I’ve heard) 3. A second (used) Radeon HD 7950 – Total cost: ~$120. Advantages: very affordable, should be very good performance in games that have good crossfire support, supposedly will have full DX12 support (again, a rumor). Disadvantages: older card means fewer features, stuck with 3GB VRAM, games/applications that do not support crossfire well will see little to no improvement, buying a used card is a little risky 4. Two more (used) Radeon HD 7950s – Total cost: ~$240. Advantages: significantly more raw computational power than even a 780 ti, at a much lower cost. Disadvantages: same as one additional 7950 (except buying two used cards is even riskier) 5. A new R9 280 (to be used in crossfire with my 7950) – Total cost: ~$170. Advantages: quite affordable, should be very good performance in games that have good crossfire support, supposedly will have full DX12 support (again, a rumor). Disadvantages: stuck with 3GB VRAM, games/applications that do not support crossfire well will see little to no improvement, won’t match my current card asthetically (not a big deal) 6. Two new R9 280s (to be used in crossfire with my 7950) – Total cost: $340. Advantages: significantly more raw computational power than even a 780 ti, at a significantly lower cost. Disadvantages: same as one new R9 280 So those are the options. I am willing to spend as much as the 780 ti if it is worthwhile, but would (of course) prefer to spend less if a cheaper solution makes more sense. Something like a 980 or two 970s, though, is out of the question. I just can’t justify spending that much right now.
Let me know what you think and if there are any advantages/disadvantages that I didn’t think of, and thanks for the help! And of course, feel free to ask if there's any other info that would be helpful!

[Discussion] Coin Mining & Maxwell 800 Series Prices

With the release of the GTX 750 and 750 Ti we have our first look at the Maxwell architecture and how it performs. But like many others I was worried to see that these cards are actually very good for mining Litecoin, Dogecoin etc. They draw very little power and don't generate as much heat as AMD cards, even now in February Newegg can't keep AMD cards in stock and are selling them way above MSRP. This is not just a Newegg problem but now AMD cards seem to be worth their weight in gold. Nvidia is now taken the budget crown and buying a GTX 770/780/780 Ti is actually cheaper and faster than getting an AMD card equivalent.
Are the days of cheap graphics cards a thing of the past? Also will we see Crypto-miners move over to Nvidia once the 800 series is launched? Will GPU based mining ever become non-profitable like it did when the Bitcoin craze died down?

[Build Help] Choosing a graphics card upgrade

I have an original 7970 reference card, not the GHz model from PowerColor. It's time to change cards sadly. It's stock is 925/1325, however I user to be able to overclock 1125/1500 on air. I used to Bitcoin and eventually Litecoin mine with it when I wasn't using it. I started noticing some artifacting and have slowly been decreasing my overclocks; I am now at 1000/1375. I started looking at graphics cards as soon as I had to star clocking down. I decided on the 780 ti, and it was an spectacular improvement. So I put the 7970 in a dedicated rig to litecoin mine full-time until it eventually would die. However, after the Watch Dogs issues started to creep up with vRAM. I started to worry with consoles having access to potentially 6 GB of vRAM, would a day come soon that 3 GB in the 7970 and the 780 ti limit me before the actual graphics processor. I immediately returned my 780 ti while in my first 30 days and put the 7970 back in my gaming pc. After it was dedicated mining for 24 days, my overclocks are now down to 980/1325 to prevent artifacting. It really needs to be replaced. I started looking at the 295x2 and the Titan Black. obviously the 295x2 will perform better per dollar, but part of the switch from AMD to NVIDIA was a desire to buy the Shield 2 (if it comes out) for game streaming.
So, my question is, in light of Watch_Dogs need for a minimum of 3GB of vRAM just for the highest textures, and stuttering when you are around that amount and including the fact the consoles have access to a potential 6 GB of vRAM at any given time (meaning game developers may start being horribly inefficient with their vRAM sizes). Does the Titan Black seem like requirement to anyone else (if you are wanting NVIDIA)?
